Applications > Processing, Interpretation, and Mapping
Collected data must be processed and interpreted in order to become useful information about subsurface facilities and their environment. UIT has developed software tools to help in-house experts rapidly transform collected data into 3D images and maps. Three critical steps include:
- Processing: UIT’s proprietary hardware generates tremendous quantities of data. UIT has designed and developed innovative and efficient software tools that capture, store, sort and analyze the raw data in order to convert it into useful 3D visualizations.
- Interpretation: Human decision-making is an essential element in the creation of every final 3D presentation and map. Expert analysts examine the images and compare embedded features to surveys, as-built plans, and other information to interpret and characterize what is buried beneath the surveyed site.
- Mapping: UIT’s proprietary software outputs the interpreted features in a form readily accepted by standard 3D CAD mapping software or any other commercially available land development and/or presentation package.
UIT has successfully completed many projects following the protocol described above for public and private utilities, transportation departments, facility owners, and others. Please review our case studies for examples of some of our past experiences in such applications.
