A planned facility expansion required detailed subsurface investigation and mapping prior to design because of the possible presence of utilities beneath the property. The owners suspected the existence of three water or wastewater lines and one electrical line. UIT and its Strategic Ally Spectra Environmental Group (www.spectraenv.com) were engaged to survey and map the underground area at the site.
The UIT/Spectra investigation verified the presence of the suspected water and electrical lines. In addition, it revealed the presence of a possible buried roadbed, vehicle ramp and building foundation. The CAD drawings and 3D images enabled the facility owners to include consideration of these structural anomalies in their design.
